Making learning visible.
A learning, planning, evidence and reflection platform that brings the whole learning journey together — so you can understand the learner, capture what actually happens, and make sense of progress over time.
You record the learning. KaN helps make sense of it.
Why
KaN Learn Hub was founded by an educator — a qualified teacher and counsellor — who wanted a better way to bring the entire learning process together in one place.
Learning information so often lives in separate places: a report in one folder, photos on a phone, session notes somewhere else, a curriculum document in another tab, plans on paper, and important observations held in memory.
KaN was created to bridge that gap — not to reduce a learner to data, but to help us see the learner, the evidence and the journey more clearly.

Who am I?
I'm Tara Whiteside — a qualified teacher and counsellor with postgraduate qualifications in allied school psychology and guidance and counselling.
KaN grew from the work I was already doing with learners and families: trying to make sense of learning that was spread across reports, work samples, observations, plans, photos and everyday moments.
I wanted one place that could hold the whole picture — not just grades or deficits, but strengths, growth, evidence and what might help next.
That's what KaN became.

The practical flow
KaN is designed as a connected learning ecosystem. You can start with learner information, generate ideas, build a plan, organise useful activities, capture what actually happened and turn that evidence into a clearer picture and report.
Add strengths, interests, goals, learning needs and the context that helps KaN understand the person.
Use the learner picture to create meaningful learning ideas that fit what you are working towards.
Turn useful ideas into a flexible weekly plan. Choose what matters; leave out what does not.
Schedule activities when structure helps. Plans stay separate from evidence until learning actually happens.
Record observations, photos, work samples and spontaneous learning moments as they happen.
KaN brings evidence together, notices patterns and helps make progress and next steps easier to see.
Turn the evidence already collected into organised learning snapshots and reports for your own records or relevant education requirements.
The gap
KaN Learn Hub is designed to connect these pieces. The goal is not simply to store information — it is to create a meaningful learning picture over time.
Who
KaN Learn Hub is not restricted to one type of family, educator or professional. It may be used by parents, caregivers, homeschool families, classroom teachers, early childhood educators, tutors, learning support professionals, intervention providers, mentors, allied professionals, adults supporting another learner, and adults managing their own learning — and others with appropriate authority.
Legal and privacy rules regarding authority to enter another person's information still apply.
KaN is designed around the learner, not an age bracket. It may support early childhood, primary, secondary, adolescents, young adults, adults and lifelong learning contexts.
A learner does not need any diagnosis to use KaN. Relevant information can form part of the learning picture if the authorised user chooses to include it.
The learner comes first
KaN does not begin with “What level should this person be at?” It begins with “Who is this learner?”
KaN does not assign one global grade. A learner may show strong understanding in one strand, developing in another, advanced oral language and emerging written expression. KaN preserves that complexity instead of forcing one number.
The ecosystem
Users can enter this cycle at any point. Learning does not need to begin with a formal plan — real life is messy. Sometimes learning is planned; sometimes it happens unexpectedly. Both matter.
Repeat
Plan
KaN suggests learning ideas based on the learner's whole picture — interests, strengths, goals, previous learning and curriculum. Interests are an entry point, not the entire curriculum.
Ideas can become practical plans: what to focus on, the learning goal, activities and evidence worth noticing. Plans are adaptable — a plan is an opportunity for learning, not proof it occurred.
A planned activity tells us “what we intended to offer.” A learning record or work sample tells us “what actually happened.” KaN keeps these separate, so reports and curriculum conclusions aren't based on activities that may never have occurred.
Calendar
Meaningful learning does not need to have been planned first. Cooking dinner, shopping, gardening, building, playing, a museum visit, caring for an animal, a meaningful conversation, real-world money or time. Just Record Learning afterwards — KaN helps make it visible without pretending every experience proves every skill.
Capture
Quickly record what happened, what you noticed, learner words, amount of support and optional photos. KaN can suggest possible learning areas and curriculum connections. The original observation stays separate from AI interpretation.
One experience can involve multiple learners. A shared activity is recorded once, but KaN keeps separate evidence for each learner — because each may demonstrate something different.
Evidence
Writing, maths, projects, drawings, creations, practical work, photos, reflections — KaN can analyse what the sample actually demonstrates: strengths, what's developing, errors or misconceptions, what cannot be determined, possible connections and next steps.
Evidence means different things depending on support. You can indicate whether a task was independent, with some support, with significant support, or unsure — and note supports like modelling, prompts, sentence starters, templates or word banks.
Using money while shopping does not automatically prove money understanding. Cooking does not prove nutrition knowledge. One polished piece does not establish overall writing ability. KaN uses the lowest-confidence conclusion fully supported by the evidence — and distinguishes incorrect from not demonstrated.
Beyond KaN
School reports, Essential Assessment, StepsWeb, literacy/numeracy assessments, intervention reports, tutor information, specialist reports. Where you choose to use it, KaN incorporates it into the broader picture.
Securely store school reports, learning plans, specialist and psychological reports, letters and assessments. Uploading a document does not automatically give KaN permission to analyse it — you control that separately.
KaN does not artificially average conflicting information. A school report, a one-to-one work sample and a parent observation can each show something different. KaN preserves those sources and says: evidence differs across settings.
Frameworks
Learning starts long before school does. 🌱 KaN works beautifully with young children too — capturing play, communication, social learning, independence, curiosity, movement, creativity, problem solving, relationships and everyday experiences through an early-learning lens.
Your selected framework shapes the features available. Victorian Curriculum mode offers indicative connections and evidence-based working ranges for your review. Australian Curriculum mode offers general learning observations, ideas, plans and summaries without AI-generated curriculum mappings, codes, explanations or working ranges.
Use the current official Australian Curriculum alongside your evidence. Do not paste Australian Curriculum source text into AI features or upload files containing it for AI analysis. Choosing a reporting state does not change your curriculum or add state syllabus mapping.
For VEYLDF/EYLF, KaN supports play, exploration, communication, relationships, creativity and learning dispositions — not school-style grades. Reports may be called a “Learning & Development Summary.”
You don't have to use a formal framework. Record learning, plan, collect evidence, use Ideas and reflect — without forcing curriculum alignment.
Over time
Repeated evidence is not automatically progress. Progress means later evidence shows meaningful development. Increasing independence means less support was required. KaN distinguishes an evidence point, a pattern, progress and growing independence.
Reporting
Evidence reports bring reviewed records together. Learning summaries provide weekly or monthly snapshots. Curriculum detail depends on the selected framework. Reporting cycles help organise your records; they do not set your state’s submission deadlines. Review generated drafts before sharing.
Choose personal records, a home education review or sharing with an educator. Select dates and records, add your own reflections, then preview and save a preparation pack. The five-step guide and fictional example help you get started.
Your reporting state and curriculum are separate choices. Follow the official guidance linked for your state, complete any required forms and attach original evidence separately. KaN does not submit reports or confirm approval.
Prepare a reportKaN highlights what changed since the last period rather than repeating everything, and end-of-year reporting synthesises the year. Graphs show evidence by area, learning over time and independence — never meaningless mastery percentages, intelligence scores or red/amber/green judgements.
Celebrate
Learning grows over time. Learners can grow leaves that contribute to a visual tree and garden — celebrating persistence, curiosity, confidence, independence, creativity, problem-solving, communication, planning and meaningful evidence.
Leaves may be awarded by an authorised adult, or by KaN where automatic rewards are enabled — for following through on a plan, completing meaningful learning or capturing substantial evidence. No leaf farming: no reward for logging in, clicking buttons, duplicate uploads or empty records.
A learner with 100 leaves is not “better” than one with 20. No leaderboards, no sibling comparisons, no rankings, no loss of leaves as punishment. The garden celebrates a personal journey.
Less overwhelm
You should never need to memorise where every feature lives. Search “work sample”, “cancel subscription”, “Charlie's reports” or “money” — it finds both app functions and your own learner content.
A navigation and help assistant. Ask “How do I upload a work sample?” or “What should I do first?” and get simple step-by-step directions with direct buttons. It never analyses a learner — that stays in the dedicated features.
You do not need to understand everything before you begin. Start with one learner, then one thing: if learning already happened, Record Learning; if you need an idea, Ideas; if you want to organise the week, Weekly Plan; if you don't know where something is, Search or Ask KaN. That is enough to start.
Flexibility
Learning includes everyday and functional skills — communication, independence, routines, functional literacy and numeracy, money, time, self-management and practical problem-solving. Strengths matter; needing support is not failure.
KaN adapts around the learning journey. The user should not have to adapt their life around KaN.
Trust
AI assists with record analysis, curriculum connections, work sample analysis, Ideas, plans, summaries, reports and navigation. It is a tool to assist understanding — not infallible, and not a replacement for professional judgement.
Uploading a learner's original work does not transfer ownership to KaN. The user and learner retain ownership; KaN processes authorised information only as needed to provide the platform.

Founder
“I'm an educator, qualified teacher and counsellor. Through working with learners, families and professionals, I kept seeing the same challenge: so much valuable information about learning existed, but it lived in different places.
There might be a report in one folder, photos on a phone, session notes somewhere else, a curriculum document open in another tab, plans on paper and important observations held mostly in someone's memory.
I wanted a way to bring those pieces together — not to reduce a learner to data, not to replace educators, parents or professionals, but to help us see the learner, the evidence and the journey more clearly. That became KaN Learn Hub.”
The difference
KaN is designed around the entire learning journey rather than one isolated part. It connects who the learner is with what we plan with what actually happens with what the evidence shows with what may come next. The value is in the connection between those pieces.
The person using KaN should not need to understand complex curriculum terminology or data structures. KaN manages complexity underneath while presenting information clearly — technical detail is available when wanted, not forced into every screen.
KaN supports the people around a learner, not replaces them. You know the learner. You see the moments. You provide the experiences and make the decisions. KaN helps organise the information, connect the evidence and make the learning journey easier to see.
FAQ
Learning does not always happen according to a worksheet or timetable. Sometimes it is planned; sometimes it is spontaneous. Sometimes progress is obvious; sometimes we only recognise it when we look back at the evidence.
KaN Learn Hub brings those moments together — understand the learner, support the learning, capture what happens, recognise what the evidence shows, decide what comes next, and keep growing.

About KaN's guidance
KaN Learn Hub is an educational support tool designed to help families and educators notice learning, organise evidence, identify possible curriculum connections and generate ideas for what to explore next.
KaN's suggestions are based on the information and evidence you choose to provide, together with publicly available educational frameworks and curriculum references.
KaN does not diagnose learners, provide medical or psychological assessment, or replace professional educational, medical or allied-health advice.
AI-generated insights are suggestions, not definitive conclusions. A learner's progress cannot be determined from one piece of evidence alone, and KaN's suggestions should always be considered alongside the learner's broader development, experiences and needs.
