Acceptable Use Policy
Version 1.1 · Effective 21 October 2026
Use KaN for lawful educational purposes, protect learners’ privacy and respect others’ rights. Uploading a document requires appropriate authority; simply possessing it does not establish that authority.
Summaries are general information only and do not replace the full document below.
Use KaN lawfully
Do not use KaN to commit unlawful acts, upload unlawful content, impersonate another person, or knowingly provide information you are not entitled to share.
Protect learners
Do not use KaN to harm, exploit, threaten or endanger a child or another learner. Do not use learner information for harassment, discrimination or another unlawful purpose.
Provide only relevant information. Consider whether names, faces, addresses or details about other people can be omitted or removed before uploading.
Authority to upload
Only upload learner work, photographs, reports and other material when you have the necessary rights, authority and consents for its use in KaN. Consider privacy, confidentiality, copyright, your professional role and any restrictions attached to the material.
Possessing a report, taking a photograph or being a parent, carer or professional does not automatically authorise every upload, analysis or disclosure. Check with the relevant person or rights holder if you are unsure.
Do not submit Australian Curriculum source material to AI features. Observe the framework-specific requirements on the Curriculum sources, copyright & attribution page.
Respect account security
Do not attempt unauthorised access to accounts, learner information, administrative tools or other restricted material. Do not bypass access controls, introduce malicious code, exploit vulnerabilities or disrupt the service.
If you notice a possible security issue, stop any activity that could expose information and tell us through the contact details on the Contact & Privacy Complaints page.
Respect intellectual property
Do not unlawfully copy, scrape, redistribute or sell protected platform content, share account access without authorisation, or use automated systems to circumvent the service’s limits. Permitted educational use and lawful exceptions are explained on the Copyright & Intellectual Property page.
Responses to misuse
We may investigate and take proportionate action, including a warning, restriction, suspension or termination for a serious or repeated breach. We may act immediately to protect people or systems, or where law requires it. Where appropriate, we will explain the issue and allow you to respond.
We may preserve relevant records or refer a matter to authorities where lawful and appropriate. A suspension does not itself mean learner records have been deleted. Applicable privacy and consumer rights continue to apply.
